I spent most of last week with the people from the well furnished collective a loose group of artists, poets, anarchists, marxists, hippies and livestylers living in a squat at well street in Hackney. Who installed a community center in an old furniture shop. Where you can attend lectures/ workshops for free reaching from laughter yoga to save the library group. And they are also setting up events for contemporary poetry and performance art.
Last Friday they got an IPO ( interim possession order). Which means they have to leave the squat within the next 24 hrs of receiving the order. But somehow the state made a mistake by delivering that sheet of paper and so it seems like it is not valid for now and they might stay & keep on with the community center and their work. By the way they do have quite a big range of local support ranging from young teens doing diabalo workshops to older people having a 50+ club meeting in here. So what I did is basically record their activities. Including:
Antroposoph Chris Knight, who came over one evening to hold a lecture about the moon cicle, female menstruation and the human rEvolution? led by women and bleeding, and a lot of spoken word by Catherine Brogan, Mel Jones, Captain of the Rant, Richard Tyrone Jones, Furious George, Josh Nicho, Dave Florez, Alain English, Charlie Dupre, Stephanie Dogfoot.
